Pump track
in Revúca

A rolling track where a child learns to handle a bike before going out among cars. Revúca does not have one yet. We are doing everything we can to change that.

What it is good for

A pump track is a closed loop of rollers and banked turns. You ride it without pedalling — the child pushes off with body movement, and that is exactly how they learn how a bike behaves.

It suits a five-year-old on a balance bike as well as a fifteen-year-old on a mountain bike. It works just as well for scooters and skateboards. And because it is a closed loop with no cars, a parent can sit on a bench instead of running alongside.

Today children learn to ride on the road, among cars. That is the only reason we want to build it.

Where it should be

A place in town itself, one children can reach on their own and where no cars go. A track like that does not need much — a few hundred square metres of level ground.

We also want somewhere to sit around it. A pump track for the children, a bench for the parent, and it becomes a place people go to.

Who we work with

We work closely with the Town of Revúca. A pump track only makes sense as municipal sports grounds — open, free of charge and available to anyone with a bike or a scooter.
